![]() I am just trying to find a way to move my data, can someone help me? I don’t understand the implications of what the Migration assistant is asking me to do in creating a new account and I don’t want to do that, unless I know what will happen. I have already trashed everything (Apps, Container, Group Container items as in ) twice and reinstalled. Boot from New OS and use Migration Assistant to restore from the CCC Clone. I have a new hard drive, migrated by Cloning with Carbon Copy Cloner, and Office Mac 2016 now says it's not licenced and I cannot activate nor deactivate it. Erase disk and use Recovery Mode to install new OS. But my documents is 35gb!!! I would not leave my data stored in the cloud either, only while moving it. Make a CCC Clone copy, which will not include the OS. I thought of using Icloud or OneDrive (MS365 is loaded it on the Mac). Is there any way move only my documents and photos? I ordered a USB-C SSD for Time Machine backup and can format that has ExFat to move the data manually, will that work? (of course, it will be reformatted APFS for Time Machine). Change the External Boot (or 'Allowed Boot Media') setting to Allow booting from external media. I don’t want to do that, I already have a Mac account. Choose Startup Security Utility from the Utilities menu in the menu bar ( see this screenshot for clarification) Click the Enter macOS Password button, then choose an administrator account and enter its password. copy your personal data, and then reinstall just those apps and add-ons you. When I selected what I wanted to move on the assistant, the next screen brought up a panel with my Windows account name and asked me to create a password for that account to set up on the Mac. Assistant (at startup) or Migration Assistant (anytime) to restore your apps. I did not want to duplicate/copy all the Windows data/files to the Mac. But as Apple's platform continues to evolve, we have to design our recovery strategies around the current hardware capabilities. I downloaded the Migration Assistant to move my windows data - all I want is My Documents and Pictures. CCC 5.1.27 and CCC 6 can make bootable copies of the system on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs (11.3+) right now, and we'll continue to support that functionality as long as macOS supports it. I have an Ipad and Iphone, so everything is the same as on Icloud. New to Macbook! I am a lifelong computer Windows user, moving off Windows.
